| 内容記述 | I carried out this survey in 6 points of Oita prefecture in Japan in Sep.2004. There are 3 main potential forms in Oita dialect-[-kiru], [-a (ra) reru], [-e (re) reru]-. As the result of this survey, I understood that [-kiru] and [-a (ra) reru] come from the northeast Oita and that [-e (re) reru] is a form that has been used for a long time. For the present elderly people, [-kiru] means" A has an ability to..." and [-a (ra) reru] means" Regardless of ability and feelings of A, ... is possible judging from the situation". The distinction between the two is clear for the elderly people. Junior high students and a part of the middle-aged people, however, seem not to make the distinction. The result of Hita city is the most stable. [-e (re) reru] meant" As for A, ... is possible or impossible according to his/her situation at the time" for several years 50 to 60 years ago. But [-e (re) reru] has changed its meaning to" A is glad to be able to .../ A cannot do ... and is disappointed". This form is becoming to be used for any of the meanings of potential expression. Under the influence of this phenomenon, the distinction between the two meanings is disappearing among junior high students. | |||||||
